Paul Williams considered as the most avoided fighter in the sport until he suffered a devastating one-punch knock out from Sergio Martinez. Martinez was awarded as the ESPN Fighter of the year and the Knock Out of The Year award at the expense of Paul Williams.
This is the first ring appearance of Williams since losing to Martinez. Erislandy Lara on the other hand, has some redemption in mind after his lack luster performance against Carlos Molina which resulted to a majority draw on March 25, 2011.
Regardless of the outcome, Paul Williams had announced that this will be his last outing as a professional boxer.
